RWTDM-2120, 8 MHz 2k/8k DVB-T Tuner/NIM RWTDM-2120, 8 MHz 2k/8k DVB-T Tuner/NIM
Digital Terrestrial TV Network Interface Module, 2k/8k, DVB-T
Complete DTT front-end ('NIM') solution, UHF to MPEG TS,
incorporating the new Oak Technology OTI-7000 chip
Our new alignment-free module design gives you all you need to bring DVB-T to your existing MPEG set-top box. Save on component cost and time-to-market! Ideal also for PCMCIA 'sidecar' modules, IDTVs, VCRs and PC cards

The RWTDM-2120 combines RWT's proven DVB-T tuner design with the new single-chip COFDM channel receiver (demodulator and FEC decoder) chip OTI-7000 from Oak Technology. The device will acquire all DVB modes of 2k and 8k COFDM transmissions automatically, and requires minimum software overhead to optimise its powerful analogue cochannel interference rejection filters.

The RWT tuner achieves a typical adjacent channel PAL protection ratio of -43 dB, with a combined local oscillator single-sideband phase noise of -90 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset and a noise figure of 5 dB, outperforming other tuners on the market.

RWT's use of triple frequency conversion means there are no high-Q tuned components on the PCB. Apart from the ceramic and SAW filters, all circuitry is broadband and highly tolerant of component spreads. This means you can build the unit without fear of yield problems, for considerably lower cost than a bought-in tuner/NIM. Production cost is minimised by the use of a 2-layer PCB with all surface mount components, and the shielding structure, on one side of the board.

The combination of RWT's tuner with Oak's COFDM chip brings an optimised, easily-interfaced, production-ready DTT front-end, UHF in / MPEG Transport Stream out, within reach of any STB or digital TV manufacturer. This is the ideal solution for your second-generation DVB-T product.

Like all RWT modules, the RWTDM-2120 is designed for manufacture without any special RF knowledge or equipment, on the same production line as your MPEG motherboards. It is available for immediate licensing to volume manufacturers of digital TV receivers.
